Hunting Camp in Gueydan, Louisiana
This is another view of the inside of the camp, showing the cooking area where many terrific meals were made: catfish couvillion, fried fish, roasted wild ducks, barbequed wild deer and pork, fried alligator, chicken and sausage gumbos, seafood gumbos, squirrel gumbos, roasted rabbit, etc. I can go on and on; the food in Southwestern Louisiana is totally unique!
I was born and raised in the Cajun Heartland of Southwestern Louisiana. Since the age of 5, I fished in freshwater rivers and bayous and hunted ducks and rabbits in our marshes and forests. In my adulthood, my interests broadened to include intense research into the US Civil War (War of Northern Aggression), as well as Bodybuilding/Weightlifting. I continue to engage in our Cajun culture through crawfishing on my family property, as well as jug fishing for catfish in local rivers. I am very good at catching bullfrogs with my bare hands late at night in our ponds, too. All of these skills, I am passing onto my son, Gabriel Luke. Moreover, I stay busy with work in the healthcare field, to support my family and take care of others in my community.
